BATON ROUGE East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff’s deputies said a 16-year-old Woodlawn High School student set his shirt on fire during a confrontation with his mother in school’s parking lot.
Casey Rayborn Hicks, a sheriff’s office spokesman, said the incident followed a confrontation the boy had Monday with members of the School Drug Task Force.
Hicks told The Advocate members of the task force were called to the school Monday to investigate a tip about the 16-year-old possessing marijuana.
Before the task force members arrived, Hicks said the teen left the school.
When the teen returned to the school, Hicks said his mother confronted him and the boy ran away from his mother and set his shirt on fire.
The boy was taken to a hospital with nonlife threatening injuries.
