Drill reaches freshwater lake under Antarctic ice

The Russian team reached the lake hidden under miles of Antarctic ice on Sunday, a major scientific discovery that could provide clues for search for life on other planets.
In the coldest spot on the earth’s coldest continent, Russian scientists have reached a freshwater lake the size of Lake Ontario after spending a decade drilling through more than 2 miles of solid ice, the scientists said Wednesday.
