Training Center Could Help End Child Abuse

Posted: February 4, 2012 at 5:53 a.m.

Lacy Maybee, left, a child advocate and forensic interviewer, meets Friday with Shanna Robertson, a family service worker and investigator for the Department of Human Services, before an interview for a child-abuse case at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Benton County in Little Flock.

David Williams, a Fayetteville police detective, climbed into a dark attic in pursuit of child-abuse suspect last month. The idea of a predator hiding in a dark place can be used as an analogy about child abuse, Williams said.

I suppose Benton County is the best place to put yet another grant funded useless project.

In light of the high incidence of child abuse in such a fine, upstanding, Christian, conservative, Republican bastion as Benton County, as well as child abuse statistics in the region to be served by the center, I'd say the center is needed. And considering the conservative love of socialism when it suits their purposes, federal funding would be appropriate. They might even get funding from private charitable institutions with a liberal bias.

Spare the rod and spoil the child. But don't leave marks.
