Man suspected in shooting death of Ozark woman

Authorities suspect an Altus man of shooting and killing a woman Tuesday in her home north of Ozark, but a formal charge hadn’t been filed in the death Wednesday.
Dena Hancock, 44, was shot and killed in her home north of Ozark on Arkansas 219, Franklin County Sheriff Anthony Boen said Wednesday.
The suspect, Jason Eugene Houston, 37, was being held in the Crawford County jail Wednesday on other charges after police said he used a vehicle to ram an Arkansas State Police trooper’s cruiser on Tuesday night in Van Buren, according to the Van Buren Police Department.
Houston was being held on suspicion of attempted capital murder of a law enforcement officer, aggravated assault and felony criminal mischief, police said.
The state trooper and Van Buren police officers were alerted to look out for Houston, whom Franklin County authorities had identified as a suspect in Hancock’s death, Van Buren police said.
Hancock’s body was found in her home after the Franklin County sheriff’s office responded to call around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday.
