City employees are saving taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars by building a three-lane street, a planning official said.

Price Lane Work

City crews are building a three-lane street to connect Eighth and First streets next to Kirksey Middle School.

• Using city employees to build the street will save about $625,000.

• The street is expected to open before the summer of 2013.

• The street will provide a second entrance and exit for Kirksey Middle School.
