In response to Joseph R. Lingle’s question “Where Was God?” (Public Viewpoints, Dec. 27) He was weeping for the children and families who were affected by the tragedy.

Oh Shirley, the people who are called by his name is Israel not the United States of America. Don't you find it a little strange the soldiers fighting a war call on the same God to protect them even though they are shooting at each other. Can you even imagine the most of the time God's answer to prayer is NO! Both you and Joseph are wrong about where God is and what He is doing. God is in our hearts in the form of the Holy Spirit, helping each of us to know His Son, and not running the world as a political leader or dictator.
