Tigers’ Wallace Runs Into Record Books

No. 6

Bentonville senior tailback Tearris Wallace closed out his stellar high school career in December as the sole owner of a conference mark and the partial owner of a record among the state’s larger schools.

Wallace finished with 4,689 career rushing yards, easily surpassing the previous conference mark of 3,570 set by Daniel McGee of Fort Smith Southside. Wallace passed McGee’s mark during the Tigers’ victory over Siloam Springs, then built on his totals with eight more games.

The other record didn’t come until his final game, when he scored on a 2-yard run during the first quarter of the Class 7A State Championship against Fayetteville. It was Wallace’s 66th career rushing touchdown, tying him with D’Arrius Howard of West Memphis and Dedrick Poole of Little Rock Central for the most among players in Arkansas’ larger schools.

Wallace has verbally committed to play football at Memphis.
