Library Launches Music Option

— The Bentonville Public Library will launch Freegal music Monday. The service allow people to download three free songs each week to their personal devices.

The titles are mp3 files that can be played on a computer, smart phone or other mobile device, according to a news release.

“Libraries are more than books,” said Hadi Dudley, library director. “We provide access to digital content in various formats. Providing Freegal is yet another extension of the library’s contemporary offerings to our community.”

The online collection will augment the library’s compact disc collection, which was assembled primarily through donations.

Freegal includes millions of songs from 10,000 labels and a variety of music genres. The service also offers a free app for use with smart phones and mobile devices, according to the release.

To use the service, visit the library’s website at bentonvillelibrary.org. Click on “Online Resources” and browse “A to Z” for Freegal. Users must have a valid library card. For more information, call the library at 479-271-3192.
