Bowling shoulders load as Benton tops Episcopal

— Junior forward Josh Bowling scored 25 points as the Benton Panthers rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit to defeat Episcopal Collegiate 65-47 on Saturday afternoon in the championship game of the 1st Arkansas Bail Bonds Invitational.

Episcopal turned a two point lead after one quarter into a 36-26 halftime lead, but Benton outscored the Wildcats 17-6 in the third quarter to turn around the game.

Graham Gardner added 16 points and Bryant Torres 13 for Benton (11-2). Sophomore Mahlon Martin led Episcopal with 17 points and William Pollack added eight.

In the third-place game, Andrew Hovis scored 17 points as Greene County Tech defeated Mountain Home 46-39. The Eagles opened a 23-14 halftime advantage before pulling away in the final quarter.

Tanner Perkins added 11 points for the GCT, and Jack Schmitt scored 16 points to lead Mountain Home.
