— The future stars of Major League Baseball will be teammates this June in Springdale.

The Northwest Arkansas Naturals have been selected to host the 2013 Texas League All-Star Game on June 25 at Arvest Ballpark.

In addition to the game, which features the best players from the North and South Divisions of the Double-A Texas League, a huge gala and golf tournament will be held during the two-day event. Tickets for all events will be available to the public.

“This is a huge deal, a big event,” Edelstein said. “We are still working on all the details where the events will be at. We hope to get that wrapped up by early November. We have a lot of fun things planned for people.”

In preparation for the All-Star game and the upcoming season, the infield turf was recently replaced.

“It’s in our agreement to replace the entire full field every five years,” Naturals general manager Eric Edelstein said. “But we feel that the outfield is in good enough shape that it doesn’t need to be replaced.’’

Edelstein also said there is a good chance that the game will be broadcast live nationally.

“Every All-Star Game that I have been to has either been sold out, or very close,” Edelstein said.
