Allison Helps Texas To National Title

No. 10

Siloam Springs graduate Hannah Allison helped Texas claim its first national title in volleyball since 1988, in December.

Allison, a 5-foot-11 junior, started at setter and was at the controls of one of the most powerful offenses in the country.

She was a two-year starter and even started part of an injury-plagued year as a freshman, after being the No. 9 rated recruit in the country after leading the Lady Panthers to four straight state titles.

Allison was also the starter at setter when the Longhorns lost to Penn State in the national semifinals in 2010.

But she and the Longhorns won a tough five-set match against Michigan in the semifinals, then swept Oregon 3-0 in the championship match.

“For me it was really exciting, but I wasn’t completely surprised by it either because we planned on it,” Allison said. “It’s just amazing that it actually happened and that we reached that goal.”

Allison, who was named to the all-region team for the Austin Regional and all-tournament team, helped Texas (29-4) to a tournament record .438 hitting efficiency in the championship match.

She tied a career high with six blocks in the semifinals and added five more in the finals as Texas dominated net play.
