Lady Bombers Top Fayetteville

Katie Kapler scored 19 points, and the Mountain Home senior hit key free throws down the stretch as the Lady Bombers held off Fayetteville.

Fayetteville trailed by as many as 11 points in the second half, but Aubry Edie cut the margin to 31-28 midway through the fourth quarter. But Kapler was 6-for-6 from the free-throw line over the final 37.4 seconds.

Jaylah Prude led Fayetteville with 12 points.

Kapler hit two 3-point plays in the second quarter to help push the Lady Bombers to a 22-10 lead, but Prude and Brittany Austin hit baskets down the stretch as Fayetteville cut the lead to 22-14 at halftime.

Mountain Home took a 11-point lead early in the third quarter, but Daniela Allen hit a 3-pointer for the Lady Bulldogs and Prude added back-to-back baskets to cut the lead to 27-21.

But Kapler hit an uncontested layup just before the buzzer to give Mountain Home the momentum.

Fayetteville (4-8) will face Greenwood at 10 a.m. today in the final day of the tournament.
