Heritage Advances to Finals

Rogers Heritage turned up the defensive pressure to advance to tonight’s finals of the Battle at the Brier.

The Lady War Eagles outscored host Greenbrier 33-5 in the second and third quarters to roll to a 42-22 semifinal victory on Friday night.

Heritage (9-3) will take on Benton in the finals at 5:30 p.m. today.

Heritage trailed 8-7 after a quarter against Greenbrier, but allowed only five points in the next two quarters to blow away the opposition. Heritage led 42-13 entering the fourth quarter.

“We really got after it defensively and executed about as well as we have in a while,” Heritage girls basketball coach Kevin Ramey said. “I was really proud of our effort. Playing the home team, we talked about playing defense and rebounding as keys and we did the job.”

Brittany Ward led a balance scoring attack with 11 points, while Emilie Jobst added 10. Lacey Murray chipped in eight and Ashley Ward seven for the Lady War Eagles.
