Work begins on Arvest branch

Arvest Bank broke ground Thursday on a replacement branch in Fayetteville.

The 6,250-square-foot branch at the southwest corner of College Avenue and Township Boulevard will replace the current branch at 1947 N. College Ave. The new location is just north of Burger King.

The 1947 N. College Ave. branch first opened on Dec.

10, 1962, as McIlroy Bank. It contained Fayetteville’s first drive-through window. It was last renovated and expanded in 1994 with 3,150 square feet. Arvest acquired McIlroy Bank in 1986.

The new bank will have six drive-through lanes and 40 parking spaces, and is being constructed to U.S.

Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design standards.

Work is being completed by Wittenberg, Delony and Davidson Architects, CDI Contractors, and HSA Engineers and Engineering Consultants Inc.

Construction is to be compete in October.

Pair offers healthy vending fare

Fresh Healthy Vending has launched in Northwest Arkansas through franchise owners Dennis and Carla Laing. The Laings have 20 Fresh Healthy Vending machines installed throughout the area and hope to install more.

The machines offer snacks and beverages such as smoothies, soy milk, fruit, vegetables, yogurt, granola bars, baked chips and natural sodas.

Laing purchased the vending machine franchise rights from San Diego-based Fresh Healthy Vending, which offers healthier snacks as an alternative to traditional vending machine fare.

The Fresh Healthy Vending has 1,700 locations throughout North America. Locally, the Laings have placed machines in such places as Gentry Public Schools, Fayetteville Public Schools, YMCA of Northwest Arkansas and the Boys & Girls Club.

Fresh Healthy Vending also produces the Fresh Healthy Cafe, a vending machine that distributes gourmet organic coffee drinks.

Hospital gets national honors

Washington Regional Medical Center received an award from VHA Inc., a national health-care network, for outstanding clinical performance. The Clinical Excellence Award for Core Clinical Process acknowledges Washington Regional’s performance related to the treatment of heart attacks, pneumonia and heart failure and in the prevention of surgical site infections.

Based on hospital performance data from the third quarter of 2010 through the second quarter of 2011, VHA recognized Washington Regional for achieving overall performance scores of 95 percent or higher in all four of the clinical categories.

My Dentist opens in Fayetteville

My Dentist opened an office recently at 2868 W. Martin Luther King Blvd. in Fayetteville. The office provides general dentistry for the entire family, including cosmetic and sedation dentistry.
