Hookah Theft Leads To Arrests

— Police arrested two men Thursday night in connection with breaking into a local hookah lounge and stealing a pipe.

Michael Allen Turner, 21, and Cecil Turner, 22 of 769 S. Washington Ave. in Fayetteville, face felony charges in connection with commercial burglary, first-degree criminal mischief and theft of property, along with misdemeanor public intoxication.

Michael Turner also faces misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police were called to Fez Hookah Lounge, 207 N. Thompson Ave., at 10:23 p.m. Thursday for a report of a burglary.

According to an arrest report, two men broke into the business through a window and stole a hookah, which is a pipe used to smoke tobacco.

Police found Michael and Cecil Turner, carrying a hookah, near the area of Block Avenue and Dickson Street. While searching them, police reported finding parts of the hookah.

Police said the two admitted to the break-in and theft of the hookah.

Michael Turner said he first tried to use a flask to break the window. When that didn’t work, he used a rock, according to the report. Michael Turner said he took the hookah because Cecil Turner wanted it, police said.

Michael Turner was in the Washington County Detention Center on $3,500 bond Friday. Cecil Turner was being held on $2,500 bond.
