NORTH LITTLE ROCK Marshawn Powell scored 20 points and Arkansas beat Alabama A&M 95-68 Saturday night.
Powell, who eclipsed 1,000 career points during the game, added six rebounds in the same arena he tore his anterior cruciate ligament last November. Powell made 9 of 13 field goal attempts, scoring in double-digits for the sixth consecutive game.
The Razorbacks snapped a three-game losing streak at Verizon Arena and won their annual game at the venue for just the second time since 2005.
Arkansas (7-4) began the game well by hitting its first seven field goal attempts and never trailed the Bulldogs from the Southwest Athletic Conference. The Razorbacks led 18-8 at the first media timeout, scoring on their first eight possessions.
Paced by Demarquelle Tabb's 13 first half points, Alabama A&M pulled within seven points late in the first half, but Arkansas closed the period on a 10-0 run to take a 51-34 lead at the intermission.
The Razorbacks didn't have any trouble closing out the Bulldogs (3-7) after halftime, leading by as many 35 points. Twelve of Arkansas' 14 players made at least one basket.
BJ Young scored 13 points and had a career-high nine assists for the Razorbacks. Coty Clarke and Jacorey Williams each added 10 points.
Jeremy Crutcher led Alabama A&M with 16 points, while Tabb added 15.
