— Bossier City, La., turned a close game at halftime into a blowout in the second half as the Bearkats defeated Little Rock McClellan 75-46 Friday night in Jacksonville.

Bossier City (10-2) led the Lions (0-5) 34-31 heading into the locker rooms at halftime, but McClellan struggled with turnovers in the third quarter as Bossier City put together a 23-0 run to pull away. McClellan managed just four points in the quarter, all of them coming in the final nine seconds.

“We’re a defensive-minded team, but we didn’t do a good job in our transition defense in the first half,” Bossier City Coach Jeremiah Williams said. “We played better defense in the second half and that gave us easier opportunities to score.”

Bossier City’s Tevin Robertson led all scorers with 20 points, and Demonta Wills scored seven of his 13 points in the third quarter.

Davion Givens scored eight points in the first half for the Lions and Akee Johnson scored six in the half, but both were scoreless in the second half. Jason Hendrix led McClellan with 10 points.

JACKSONVILLE 51, PUTNAM CITY (OKLA.) 46

What was supposed to be a showcase of two of the better point guards in the region turned into a game for the role players as Jacksonville (6-3) defeated Putnam City (1-4).

Jacksonville’s Justin McCleary has been battling the flu and finished with nine points. Putnam City’s Omega Harris led the Patriots with 13 points to go with nine rebounds but shot under 40 percent while struggling to find open looks.

“Kevin Richardson and Nykel Worthen were in his pocket all night,” Jacksonville Coach Victor Joyner said. “You can’t give a guy like that an inch of space, and they did their jobs.”

Kahleel Hart scored 12 points for Jacksonville. Aaron Smith also had 12 points 8-of-11 shooting from the line. Kamartte Carter came off the bench for the Patriots to score 10 points and grab seven rebounds.

“Hart is the hardest-working kid I’ve ever coached,” Joyner said. “He flies around in games and does the same thing in practice. He’s nonstop.”

Jacksonville led by as many as 10 points in the third quarter after leading 23-20 at halftime.

CAMDEN FAIRVIEW 79, EL DORADO 70

Jamarcheon Smith scored 20 points to lead Camden Fairview to victory over El Dorado.

Jamarcheon scored two points in the first quarter but didn’t score again until the third quarter.

He had eight points in the third quarter and 12 in the fourth.

The Cardinals led 30-27 at halftime and extended that lead to 56-44 by the end of the third. The Wildcats tried to fight back in the fourth, scoring 27 points, but ran out of time.

Jalen Cunningham led El Dorado with 21 points, including 15 in the second half.

CHICAGO ORR ACADEMY 76, TRENT INTERNATIONAL 74

Chicago Orr Academy fought back from a 14-point deficit early in the third quarter to post a victory over Trent International Phoenix.

Chicago’s Marlon Jones led the way with 24 points, including a baseline buzzer-beater for the victory. Jones picked up a technical foul early in the third quarter after his 14th point, was benched and did not return until the final 3:30 of the game. He scored the next six points for Chicago.

Quan Doster scored 27 points to lead Trent International, which is from Sugarland, Texas. Doster was 14 of 14 from the line.
