LITTLE ROCK State phone records show that Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel called a lawyer with whom he admitted an extramarital relationship twice from his office, but did not communicate with her using his state-issued cell phone.
McDaniel’s office late Friday afternoon released details of the phone calls between the attorney general and Hot Springs lawyer Andrea L. Davis. McDaniel this week admitted that he had an inappropriate relationship with Davis in 2011.
McDaniel’s office initially had rejected reporters’ requests for records relating to any contact he had with Davis, calling them “working papers” from his office. A spokesman said Friday McDaniel decided to release some of the records even though he believes they’re exempt from the law.
McDaniel is a Democrat and the only announced candidate for governor in 2014.
