Griffin appears ready

ASHBURN, Va. - Robert Griffin III looks good to go.

The Washington Redskins rookie had a full practice Thursday for the second consecutive day as the team prepares for this week’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

“I like what I see,” Coach Mike Shanahan said. “If there is no setback, he should be ready to go.”

Griffin missed Sunday’s victory over the Cleveland Browns with a sprained right knee. On Wednesday, he had his first full practice since the injury, and coaches and doctors were eager to see how the knee would respond.

“There wasn’t a setback today, so that’s a good sign,” Shanahan said.

Also Thursday, right tackle Tyler Polumbus remained unable to practice as he recovers from a concussion. Linebacker London Fletcher (sprained left ankle), linebacker Lorenzo Alexander (right shoulder) and defensive end Stephen Bowen (torn biceps) were limited, and linebacker Rob Jackson returned to practice after the birth of his baby girl.

SEAHAWKS

DT Jones goes on IR

RENTON, Wash. - The Seattle Seahawks defensive line took a hit as the team placed defensive tackle Jason Jones on injured reserve with a lingering knee injury.

The Seahawks made the move Thursday and promoted defensive tackle Hebron Fangupo from the practice squad to takes Jones’ roster spot.

Jones signed a one-year deal with the Seahawks in March to add depth to the defensive line rotation. He’s recorded three sacks playing mostly in passing situations and had a fumble recovery, but was hampered by a knee injury.

The loss of Jones, coupled with concerns about Alan Branch’s availability because of an ankle injury, could leave the Seahawks thin on the defensive line for Sunday’s matchup against San Francisco.

Fangupo was signed to Seattle’s practice squad Sept. 11.

DOLPHINS Hartline, Bess miss time

DAVIE, Fla. - The Miami Dolphinscould be without both starting receivers Sunday against Buffalo.

Brian Hartline and Davone Bess, who have nearly half of Miami’s receptions, missed practice Thursday with back injuries. Bess sat out Sunday’s victory over Jacksonville, and Hartline was hurt in that game.

If neither plays, quarterback Ryan Tannehill’s options at wide receiver will be Marlon Moore, rookie Rishard Matthews, newcomer Armon Binns and converted running back Marcus Thigpen. The four have a combined 13 catches with the Dolphins this year.

BILLS McKelvin’s season over

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Buffalo Bills cornerback and return specialist Leodis McKelvin has been placed on injured reserve because of a groin injury.

Buffalo signed linebacker Kirk Morrison back to the team after releasing him Dec. 3 after he was inactive for 12 games. The 30-year-old made seven tackles for the Bills in 2011 after spending six years with Oakland and Jacksonville.

McKelvin is a former first-round pick in the final year of his contractand eligible to become an unrestricted free agent in the offseason. He set franchise records for punt return yards with 431 this year, giving him the career record at 637. He has returned two punts for touchdowns this season as well.

TEXANS

Scoreboards approved

HOUSTON - The home of the Houston Texans will have two new high-definition LED scoreboards for the 2013 season.

The board of the Harris County Sports and Convention Corporation on Wednesday approved the $15.5 million purchase for Reliant Stadium.

Backers say the upgraded digital scoreboards from Mitsubishi Electric will help bolster efforts for Reliant Stadium to host the Super Bowl in 2017.

The new scoreboards will be 52 feet tall and 277 feet wide. Mitsubishi officials say the scoreboards, with 14,549 feet of display surface, will be the widest display in pro sports.

Hotel and motel taxes plus auto rental fees will help pay for the scoreboards.
