The Greenbrier Panthers, who recorded their first perfect regular season in school history, placed 12 players on the 5A-West All-State and All-Conference squad as released recently by the conference coaches.

Quarterback Seth Peters, who started just one season, guided Greenbrier to an undefeated conference slate and to an 11-0 mark before losing in the second round of the Class 5A playoffs to Batesville.

Peters passed for 2,987 yards and 29 touchdowns and rushed for 975 yards and 22 more touchdowns.

Peters was Greenbrier's quarterback in the eighth grade, but hurt his arm in baseball and missed the entire ninth grade season. The past two seasons with record-setting quarterback Neal Burcham at quarterback, Peters played receiver.

“He concentrated on playing receiver his sophomore and junior years,” Greenbrier coach Randy Tribble said. “Early in the spring, we'd get him some snaps ever year because we knew he would be our quarterback his senior year.”

Peters was named the Outstanding Back of the conference.

Morrilton, which finished runner-up to Greenbrier in the conference race and also lost in the second round of the playoffs, had 11 players honored.

Offensive lineman Gilberto Garcia was named the Outstanding Lineman of the conference.

Peters and Garcia are automatically eligible to play in the Arkansas High School Coaches Association All-Star game in June in Conway.

Joining Garcia on the squad from Morrilton was the backfield tandem of running back Jamar Criswell and quarterback Toney Hawkins. Criswell ran for 1,193 yards and 15 touchdowns. Hawkins threw for 1,736 yards and 14 touchdowns, and ran for 1,025 yards and 15 additional scores.

Joining Peters on the all-state team is running back Austin Fischer, who led the Panthers in receiving with 80 catches for 973 yards and 10 touchdowns, and ran for 758 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Alma quarterback Gage Jensen threw for 2,120 yards and 20 touchdowns and ran for 765 yards and nine touchdowns, setting a school record for total offense and touchdowns.

Peters, Hawkins, Jensen and Shiloh Christian's Casey Paraday were quarterbacks named to the all-state team.

Joining Paraday as all-staters from Shiloh Christian were senior receiver Ryan Michaelis and senior kicker Seung Jae Lee.

Paraday completed 178 of 298 passes for 2,365 yards and 17 touchdowns, and ran for three more touchdowns.

“We were really proud of Casey this year,” Shiloh Christian coach Josh Floyd said. “He improved greatly throughout the season. Also, he ran the ball very well the last half of the season, which really improved our offense.”

Michaelis was the team's leading receiver with 71 catches for 1,123 yards and nine touchdowns. Michaelis also returned 17 kickoffs for 284 yards and a punt for 8 yards.

Lee booted seven field goals, including a game-winning 27-yarder that beat Alma in the regular-season finale.

Four Shiloh Christian players were named all-conference on defense, and all will return next season.

Linebacker Samuel Taylor, who led the team with 121 tackles and eight sacks, and defensive back Jonathan Luska, who had 100 tackles, were on the team. Defensive end Matt Hansen, who had 6-1/2 sacks and 47 tackles, and linebacker Nick Gookin, who had 66 tackles, were also all-conference.

Senior offensive lineman Jacob Ralph and sophomore running back Chandler Smith, who ran for 348 yards and five touchdowns, were all-conference as well.

Offensive lineman Todd Rosamond and defensive end Ben Burke were named honorable mention all-conference.

Huntsville's Logan McCollough was a three-year two-way starter for the Eagles, and even bounced back from a basketball injury suffered in February to earn all-state honors. He led the team in tackles with 72 from his inside linebacker position with five tackles for lost yardage and an interception. He caught 18 passes for 224 yards and three touchdowns from his tight end position.

“He was a fantastic blocker,” Huntsville coach Tom Tice said. “He's just now getting back to 100 percent from his operation. He was a three-year starter for us and his leadership on and off the field was fantastic.”

Defensive lineman Jim Ed Carter, defensive back Justin Myers, and running back Taylor Phillips earned all-conference honors from Huntsville.

Defensive back Brandon McRae, and offensive linemen Will Anderson and River Davis were named honorable mention all-conference for the Eagles.
