Trial Delayed for Suspect in Shooting

— The attempted capital murder trial of a Fayetteville man has been delayed until February.

Kacey Jones, 34, was to have been tried starting Tuesday in Washington County Circuit Court. Jones is charged with shooting Charles Lee Brown Jr., in the back on May 24 during an altercation on Curtis Avenue.

Jones is also charged with first-degree battery and being a felon in possession of a gun. He also would be considered a habitual offender for sentencing purposes, if convicted.

The case is now set for Feb. 25 before Judge William Storey. The sides were given more time to prepare for trial.

There was a series of at least five related shootings involving two groups of people in Fayetteville during the summer of 2011. Jones was shot in the finger during one of those incidents.
