Panthers Suffer First Loss Of Season

— Division I prospect Allonzo Trier had plenty of help from his Tulsa (Okla.) NOAH teammates Tuesday.

Trier led with 17 points, but three other NOAH players scored in double figures and the Jaguars handed Siloam Springs its first loss 66-65 at Panther Activity Center.

NOAH (11-5) rallied from a 10-point deficit early in the fourth quarter.

“It was the first time all year we’ve done that,” Siloam Springs coach Tim Stewart said. “We got that lead. The game was ripe for the picking. We got stagnant and just stood there. Every time they needed a basket, they got an easy one.

“Give them a lot of credit. They hit some nice shots. That was a good team.”

LaRon Stokes started the NOAH comeback with a basket inside to cut Siloam Springs’ lead to 58-50.

Trier then hit a 3-pointer and threw down a tomahawk dunk after a Panthers turnover to make it 61-55.

A 3-pointer from Michael Maras made it 61-60, and Stokes gave NOAH the lead for good with a basket.

NOAH coach Chris Wallace credited the team’s defensive intensity for the comeback.

“We just started getting stops,” Wallace said. “We started making defense a priority.”

The Jaguars led 66-62 when Austin Comiskey hit a 3-pointer with 1 second left to set the final score. The Jaguars were able to successfully inbound the ball and run the remaining time off.

Trier was held to just five field goals, but his teammates came through.

“I’m a team player,” Trier said. “I’ll do whatever I have to do.”

Siloam Springs all-state forward Payton Henson picked up three quick fouls and sat much of the first half. Henson also sat at the end of the third quarter after he picked up his fourth foul. He finished with 14 points.

Shane Carlson led the Panthers (7-1) with 20 points, while Dylan Gray had 17.
