Blytheville tornado siren system fails tests

— Blytheville Police Chief Ross Thompson says the city’s tornado sirens aren’t working properly.

Thompson says the sirens have been tested several times over the past few days and are considered non-operational until they are repaired.

The Blytheville Courier News reported that with stormy weather possible Wednesday night into Thursday, police vehicles will patrol the streets with sirens and announcements if necessary.

Thompson said residents should rely on local media for weather information.

The National Weather Service in North Little Rock said an approaching front will bring a storm line that could bring 60 mph wind gusts in places.
