— State police are investigating the death of a Lonoke County jail inmate.

Arkansas State Police spokesman Bill Sadler said that his agency was contacted by the county’s prosecuting attorney, Chuck Graham, to look into the circumstances that led up to the death of Dexter Wilson, 35, of Jacksonville, who was an inmate at the facility.

According to Sadler, Wilson was taken to a North Little Rock hospital, where he died Saturday night.

Sadler said investigators are awaiting a report from the state Crime Laboratory.

Sadler said any further inquiries should go to the Lonoke County sheriff’s office.

That agency’s spokesman, Lt. James Kulesa, did not return calls Monday to offer further details about Wilson’s arrest, incarceration or death.
