Olsen Leads Heritage To Victory

The Rogers Heritage boys basketball team started its two-day visit to Oklahoma City in fine fashion Friday evening.

The War Eagles turned in a solid overall game to pull away for a 54-41 win over Millwood High

Heritage (7-3) led only 22-20 at halftime against the Falcons, who ranked second in 3A in Oklahoma, but stretched the lead to seven after three quarters then double digits late.

Junior Crist Olsen poured in a team-high 23 points, including 5-of-8 from 3-point range. He was the only Heritage player in double figures.

The War Eagles were also strong from the free-throw line, making 13 of 16 for the game and 12 of 14 in the second half.

Heritage coach Tom Olsen said the War Eagles were strong offensively defensively in the second half.

“We scored 20 in the third quarter and had five different people score,” Olsen said. “Then we limited them to just six in the fourth quarter. We did a good job to lock them down in the fourth.”

Heritage will take on Bishop McGuiness in Oklahoma City tonight. The Fighting Irish are the defending Class 5A state champions.
