CONWAY — A man was killed and a woman wounded in an early-morning shooting Friday outside a home near Conway, and police took a Faulkner County man into custody, authorities said.
Charles Hooten, 39, of Conway was slain, and Debbie Ford, 47, of Conway was taken to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock, where she was in stable condition, Capt. Matt Rice of the Faulkner County sheriff’s office said.
Officers took a man into custody at the scene, Rice said.
Prosecuting Attorney Cody Hiland said his office charged Andrew Judd Elrod, 58, with second-degree battery, a felony, in Ford’s shooting.
No charges had been filed in Hooten’s death as of Friday afternoon. That portion of the case was still under review, Hiland said.
The shootings took place about 1:30 a.m. outside a home on Buddy Lane off Arkansas 286 just outside Conway. Neither victim lived there, Rice said.
