— Arkansas defensive tackles coach Kevin Peoples will be joining Bobby Petrino’s staff at Western Kentucky.

Peoples, 42, said he is heading to Bowling Green, Ky., on Sunday to reunite with Petrino, the former Arkansas coach who hired him as director of high school relations for the 2010 season, then elevated him to the defensive line spot for Cotton Bowl preparations last December.

Peoples coached one of the strongest units on the 2012 Razorbacks, a defensive tackle group led by Alfred Davis, Byran Jones, D.D. Jones, Jared Green and Robert Thomas.

“I’m leaving with nothing but good thoughts about Arkansas,” Peoples said. “This had become our home. We love it here.”

Peoples, 42, has lived in the state for the past 11 years, having joined the Arkansas State staff in 2002. His wife, Rebecca, has been on the strength and conditioning staff at Arkansas the past two years, working primarily with soccer, women’s basketball, softball and the tennis programs.
