County Launches Online Business Assessments

— About 6,600 businesses in Washington County will soon be able to assess personal property online, according to an announcement from the Assessor’s Office.

“With new technology we are able to pull information from our database and make it available through the Internet so that business owners can access their previous year’s assessment and update it for the current year,” said Valerie Brewer, chief deputy assessor. “This program will cut our cost considerably and at the same time, make the process more efficient for business owners.”

Businesses will receive postcards explaining how to log in to ScoutAssess.com.

A businessowner can register, print out forms and mail assessments of personal property, such as furniture, inventory, equipment and fixtures.

Beginning March 15, businesses can file the assessment on the website and not have to mail in forms.

The deadline for assessing property is May 31.
