Gov. Faubus confirmed today that some members of the legislature have discussed with him the possibility of increasing the state gasoline tax by one cent a gallon “but I only listened.” The governor said the legislators did not seek his support for such an increase but only discussed it with him. Airline passengers flying out of Little Rock National Airport, Adams Field, will no longer have to worry about leaving behind the pocketknives and other sharp objects that don’t make it past passenger screeners. They can just drop it in the mail. The Little Rock airport has adopted a “mail-back” program that has proved popular at other airports. For $2, passengers can drop the prohibited item in an envelope and fill out the address where they want the item mailed, and airport officials will take care of the rest.
