Residents and utility companies in northeast Arkansas were still coping Monday with last week’s ice storm. "The storm really destroyed the timber up here," Clay County Judge Gary Howell said. "The pecan groves are wiped out. It’s the worst storm we’ve had in years." Howell said he is working with state officials to get the county declared a federal disaster area to qualify it for aid to clean up the debris. "I’m going to estimate that it’s going to cost about $1 million to clean up the debris from this storm," Howell said.
