Man Reportedly Fires Gun At Hunters

— A Winslow man faces felony charges after he reportedly fired a gun toward a group of hunters.

Tommy Clyde Comer, 39, of 10422 Devils Den Road was arrested Friday on charges of aggravated assault and possession of firearms by certain persons.

Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to 10421 Devils Den Road about 9:25 p.m. Friday for a reported disturbance.

Billy Ashworth, 31, said Comer was shooting at him and four of his friends while they were visiting a nearby hunting cabin, according to an arrest report.

Ashworth said he only visited the cabin “every now and then” and Comer had yelled at him in the past, the report said.

He and his friends reportedly went inside for about 10 minutes before unloading their all-terrain vehicles.

Comer reportedly began yelling at them and firing shots in their direction.

When confronted by deputies, Comer said he was upset because his neighbors constantly ride four-wheelers up and down the road and shoot guns. He admitted to shooting a gun in the air to scare the neighbors, but denied aiming the weapon in their direction, the report said.

Comer was taken to the Washington County Detention Center, but was released Saturday on $5,000 bond.
