— FOOTBALL OBU, Henderson receive commitments

Malvern quarterback Austin Warford has orally committed to Ouachita Baptist, while Benton offensive lineman Chase Pigue has orally committed to Henderson State.

Warford, a three-year starter, threw for more than 2,000 yards and ran for more than 1,000 yards this fall.

Pigue joins Benton tailback Wallace Foote as in-state oral commitments for the Reddies.

Punter Dylan Breeding was named to Capital One Academic All-American first team Thursday, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Breeding, a senior from Hoover, Ala., who has a 3.8 gradepoint average and is pursuing a degree in marketing management, is taking his final 10 hours in preparation for graduating later this month.

Breeding earned second-team All-SEC honors from league coaches and The Associated Press after averaging 45.6 yards per punt.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL Silva leads Golden Suns

Rosie Silva scored a season-high 25 points to lead the Arkansas Tech women to an 80-48 victory over Southeastern Oklahoma State at Bloomer Sullivan Arena in Durant, Okla., on Thursday.

Silva was 10 of 14 from the field and 4 of 4 from the threepoint line for the Golden Suns (3-2, 2-0 Great American Conference), who shot a season-high 51 percent from the field.

Jessica Weatherford had 16 points for Arkansas Tech, Caitlyn Spurgeon added 11 points and 9 rebounds and Tikeyiah Johnson had 10 points.

Haley Schaefer led Southeastern Oklahoma State (1-6, 0-3) with 12 points.

Williams leads Ouachita Baptist

Monica Williams scored 21 points to lead Ouachita Baptist to a 74-66 victory over Southern Arkansas on Thursday at the W.T. Watson Athletic Center in Magnolia.

It was the fifth consecutive victory for OBU (5-1, 3-0 Great American Conference) and the 15th consecutive loss for SAU (0-6, 0-3) dating back to last season.

Nashia James added 15 points for OBU, while Elise Holman had 13 points and 8 rebounds and Katherine West had 10 points. Stevi Cooper led Southern Arkansas with 16 points and 7 rebounds.

Harding falls on road

Harding was held to 29 percent shooting in falling to East Central (Okla.) 53-46 on Thursday night in Ada, Okla.

The Lady Bisons (3-3, 1-1 Great American Conference) shot 21.4 percent in the first half and trailed 29-15 at halftime. Shana Holmes had 18 points, but no other player had more than eight. They were also held to 3 of 18 three-point shooting.

Lindsay McCown led East Central (5-2, 2-1) with 10 points.

Ozarks men, women win

The University of the Ozarks men’s and women’s teams earned their first conference victories of the season Wednesday by defeating Texas Lutheran.

Marcus Bobb led the Ozarks men (2-6, 1-3 American Southwest Conference) with 24 points and 10 rebounds in an 81-70 victory. Ronnie Dodd had 16 points, Andrew Cummings scored 13 and Jerermy Victor added 12.

The Ozarks women (3-5, 1-3 American Southwest) outscored Texas Lutheran 44-20 in the second half on their way to a 63-43 victory. Jordana Andrews led Ozarks with 17 points. Chelsea Glasscock had 14 points, Taylor Farmer scored 12 and Jordyn Ferrell added 10.

MEN’S BASKETBALL Weevils hand Reddies first loss

Kori Forge scored 28 points and four other players scored at least 10 each to lead Arkansas-Monticello to an 85-70 victory over Henderson State on Thursday night in Monticello.

The loss was Henderson State’s first of the season.

Dayton Mickens, A.J. Calhoun and Jamal Nixon scored 11 points each for the Boll Weevils (4-3, 1-2 Great American Conference), while Ramon Mejia added 10 for the Boll Weevils.

Andrew Ensley led the Reddies (6-1, 2-1) with 27 points, and Melvin Haynes and Denzel Lyles scored 12 each.

Harding falls on road

East Central (Okla.) shot 48 percent from the floor and handed Harding its first loss, 75-60, on Thursday night in Ada, Okla.

Marquis Walters led East Central with 17 points. Chris Fisher had 16 and Colby Carr had 12.

Hayden Johnson led Harding (6-1, 1-1 Great American Conference) with 16 points, Zach Rodenberry had 13 and Weston Jameson had 10.

SEOSU ralles to top Arkansas Tech

Southeastern Oklahoma State made eight three-pointers in the second half to complete a comeback and a 62-47 victory over Arkansas Tech on Thursday in Durant, Okla.

James Harris scored 25 points for the Savage Storm (6-3, 2-1 Great American Conference) and made 8 of 11 from threepoint range.

The Wonder Boys (2-4, 1-1) led 41-36 with 11:06 left, but the Savage Storm closed the game with a 26-6 run.

Willie Kirkland led Arkansas Tech with 12 points, while Will Paul had 11.

SOCCER Silvestri earns regional honor

Connor Silvestri of Hendrix College was named a third-team selection to the All-West Region team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America on Thursday.

Silvestri, a senior from Conway, ranked third in the Southern Athletic Association with nine goals and 22 points, helping the Warriors win a school-record 10 games this season.
