Actors, there is still time yet to carve out a career-defining performance in a local film before the year is out. The University of Central Arkansas’ Digital Filmmaking Program will be holding auditions for at least eight films from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Stanley Russ Hall, Room 123, UCA, Conway. Scripts will be available at the auditions.

Information about the projects is limited, but according to one of the directors the titles of the films being cast are Diamond John, Kid Noir, The River’s Unknown, Stockholm Syndrome, Dead Wrong, Tonic, FirecrackE-R and Anthem.

The Little Rock Film Festival’s Argenta Film Series is screening Paradise Lost, the original documentary in the trilogy of films about the West Memphis Three murder case, trial and aftermath.

The free screening will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Argenta Community Theater. Among the special guests will be one of the documentary’s subjects, Jason Baldwin, the film’s codirector Joe Berlinger and Mara Leveritt, author of thebook Devil’s Knot. If you are in Los Angeles in March you can support the Little Rock Best Film winner in the 48 Hour Film Project. The film La Petite Mort willbe shown at Filmapalooza March 7-10 at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

The 48 Hour Film Project is a weekend competition in which filmmakers and film fans compete in making a short film from scratch in 48 hours. Filmapalooza is the annual screening and award ceremony for all the national and international “best of city” winners.
