Audubon Society Sets Meeting

The Northwest Arkansas Audubon Society will hold its annual meeting at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Lake Fayetteville Environmental Center, 511 E. Lakeview Drive in Fayetteville.

David Chapman will give a program on declines in breeding bird populations in the region. Officers will be elected.

Help Needed

For Benefit Hike

Volunteers are needed Saturday to help 17 hikers complete a 22-mile hike toraise money for childhood cancer research.

The hike on the Ozark Highlands Trail will benefit Cure Search for Children’s Cancer.

Volunteers are needed to staff aid stations and hike some of the route with the group.

Hikers include childhood cancer survivors and their parents, veterans and bereaved parents. All are outdoor enthusiasts who have been training for the hike since August.

The hike begins at 4:30 a.m., but volunteers don’t need to be available that early. The hike is from the Fane Creek trailhead to Dockery Gap.
