There are several forms that have to be filed every month, and I'm sure there are probably several internal corporate forms due more frequently than monthly for these businesses. Their complaint that "it will be hard to remember...without a reminder" simply demonstrates the human tendency to resist change. That discount for early filing will be enough incentive to do a better job "remembering".

For what is it that these excise taxes pay? I've tired of paying 30% or more of my tab in taxes just to have a drink and a meal at a restaurant here in Bentonville. So, I don't, anymore.

It ain't me screwin' you out of my money, small business entrepreneur - it's your government. You'd be well advised to close up shop, and move your corner bar to a community with a tax structure which encourages its citizens to patronize your establishment.

The paperwork and postage issues notwithstanding, these regressive sales taxes do nothing more than fund things like "advertising and promotion commissions." These sort of entities have no purpose beyond giving their commissars and staff salaries stolen from the pockets of the taxpayer. It's socialism at its most blatant.

Taxes of this nature are an obstruction to sustainable small business, and a pox on the community.

A correction to my earlier comment - Paragraph Two (2) should read:

"It ain't me screwin' you out of my money, small business entrepreneur - it's your DULY ELECTED REPUBLICAN government. You'd be well advised to close up shop, and move your corner bar to a community with a tax structure which encourages its citizens to patronize your establishment."

You voted for 'em, but you want me to pay the price.

Now that you mentioned republicans. Have you noticed that big fat slob JP Tom Lundstrom and his bootlicker JP Butch Pond. Reminds me of George and Lenny in Steinbeck's "Of Mice and Men" with roles reversed. "George, how will we get elected again if we vote for this." "Shut up, Lenny the voters are as stupid as you!"
