PUBLIC VIEWPOINT: Panel Weighted Toward Atheism

The title of the article, “A Conservative Perspective” (Nov. 24), implied that the lead article, “Science and Religion” was liberal. The panel of “S&R” was heavily weighted toward atheism and religious skepticism.

An obvious struggle existed concerning the mercy of God and the vengeance of God, concluding God assigns people to Hell. In trying to make hay, this “straw man” was quickly constructed and pummeled. “Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.” (Matthew 22:29)

Nowhere in scripture will you find God assigninganyone to Hell. What you do find is every provision being made through the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, according to scripture, to keep mankind from going to Hell. But, man is hell-bent by his rejection of Christ. He is content to “suppress the truth,” and suffer the consequences.

Science and logic were much discussed and both terms represent faith propositions. If you are an atheist, all you are left with is nature (naturalism).

Where then do you come up with the “laws of science” and the “laws of logic?” Do you go out into nature and say, “There they are?” You cannot prove the “laws of science” by using the “lawsof science” against it. You get implosion. The “laws of logic” are self-evident. One of the primary laws, the law of non-contradiction, will validate itself as soon as you deny it. When the atheist says that he can prove God doesn’t exist, that’s dogma and self-contradictory. You would have to be what you are attempting to disprove.

You will never fi nd God at the conclusion of a syllogism; neither His nonexistence. The atheist uses the very laws of reason God created, while denying their source. “Come let us reason together, saith the Lord.” (Isaiah 1:18)
