— Bentonville needed some instant offense Saturday afternoon, and Jasmine Secrest delivered for the Lady Tigers.

Secrest entered the game after the Lady Tigers missed their first seven shots and the senior scored six points in a 1 minute, 31 second span to start Bentonville’s 62-34 victory over Gravette on the final day of the Crabtree Invitational. The Lady Tigers (3-0) won their annual tournament with a 3-0 record.

“This was a good tournament for us to be in,” Bentonville coach Tom Halbmaier said. “Gravette is a really good team, and the overall competition was good and I am pleased with the kids.”

Bentonville led the Lady Lions 4-2, but a pair of baskets and two free throws by Secrest were a key part of a 9-0 run that gave the Lady Tigers an 11-2 lead. Secrest finished with 8 points, and her layup right before halftime gave Bentonville a 34-17 lead at the break.

“She got some high-percentage shots for us, which is really good,” Halbmaier said. “She is much improved, and it gives us that much more confidence knowing we can get things out of her.”

Deanna Adkins led 10 Bentonville players in the scoring column with 13 points. Taylor Lee was also in double figures for the Lady Tigers with 12 points.

Destaney Wishon paced Gravette with 12 points, while Kylee Davis added 10. Gravette (1-4) coach Will Pittman said Bentonville’s early run was too much to overcome.

“We got in foul trouble, and we can’t,” Pittman said. “We didn’t shoot it well, and when we don’t shoot it very well, it is tough. Bentonville shot it very well.”

Kindal Coleman opened the second half for Bentonville with a 3-pointer, and the Lady Tigers started the second half with a 9-0 run for a 43-17 lead.
