Har-Ber Wrestlers Impressive In Opener

Springdale Har-Ber opened its wrestling season with a dominating performance by defeating Van Buren 78-3 and Gentry 78-0 on Thursday.

Heavyweight Ty Harrison won both his matches after starting at center this season for the Wildcats’ football team. Harrison earned two pins, including a match that went into double overtime and lasted 7 minutes, 28 seconds.

“Ty is not in wrestling shape yet after playing football, but he is moving better than he did last year,” Har-Ber coach Nika West said. “He’s determined and motivated.”

West was also pleased with Cristian Arredondo (126 pounds), who earned a pin against Van Buren.

“Cristian wrestled very well,” West said. “He beat a kid who was a third-place finisher two years ago and a state runner-up last year.”

Har-Ber will be back in action on Dec. 7-8 when the Wildcats host the NWA Duals.
