FRIDAY’S HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL ROUNDUPS

— BOYS ARKANSAS BAPTIST 50, LAKE HAMILTON 37 Dakota Newkirk scored 14 points as the Eagles (4-3) defeated the Wolves (3-3) in the fifth-place game of the Hot Springs Hoopfest. Noah Patterson and Mitch Thompson each added nine for Arkansas Baptist.

BENTON 74, WYNNE 54 Josh Bowling scored 34 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Panthers (4-0) to a victory at the Searcy Classic. Ricky Gipson had 12 points for Benton, which led 31-18 at halftime, and Graham Gardner added 10 points.

BRYANT 57, MAUMELLE 53 C.J. Rainey scored 17 points, including a 9-of-10 effort from the free-throw line, as Bryant held off Maumelle in the OrthoArkansas Invitational at Central Arkansas Christian. Bryant led 32-22 at the half but Maumelle drew within two points in the final quarter. Zach Cambron, who added 12 points for Bryant, hit a free throw with 3.2 seconds to play to put the game out of reach. K.J. Hill added 11 points for Bryant while Rainey also had a team-high five assists. Anthony Turner and Kendall Donnerson each scored 11 points for Maumelle.

CATHOLIC 33, CENTRAL ARKANSAS CHRISTIAN 32 Zachary Morris led the Rockets (1-1) with 10 points in a victory over the host Mustangs (2-3) in the OrthoArkansas Invitational. Josh Holland led CAC with seven points.

ENGLAND 65, AUGUSTA 40 Devonte Patterson led the Lions (3-3) with 19 points in a home victory over the Red Devils. Josh Fudge and Derrell Drayer each added 11 for England while Trey Means scored 10. Jordan Brown led Augusta with 15 points.

EPISCOPAL COLLEGIATE 43, LITTLE ROCK FAIR 37 William Pollock led the Wildcats (9-0) with 11 points in a come from-behind victory over the War Eagles (2-2). Mahlon Martin added nine for Episcopal, which trailed 15-13 at the half. Allante Plant led Fair with 13 points.

LITTLE ROCK CENTRAL 63, HELENA WEST HELENA 42 Eric Nichols scored 14 points and the Tigers (3-2) turned a 26-23 halftime lead into a 21-point victory. Kyle Nelson added 11 for Central while Sean Corrothers and Brandon Higgins scored eight points each.

LITTLE ROCK PARKVIEW 72, MILLS 48 Anton Beard scored 19 points and grabbed five rebounds as the Patriots (2-0) warmed up for today’s Battle of the Border game with Memphis Hamilton by beating the host Comets. I.J. Ready added 17 points while Jaylen Franklin scored 12 points and Daryl Macon had 11.

GIRLS ARKANSAS BAPTIST 42, MONTICELLO 41 Caroline Hogue scored 16 points and the Lady Eagles overcame a 24-point performance from Monticello’s Erin Campbell for a victory in the fifth-place game of the Hot Springs Hoopfest. Mari Bednar added 10 points for Arkansas Baptist.

BENTON 54, WYNNE 26 Carmen King led the Lady Panthers (4-0) with 14 points in a victory over the Lady Yellowjackets in the Searcy Classic. Braxton Chumley hit four three-pointers and finished with 12 points and Braylee Landreth added 11 for Benton, which led 43-11 at the half.

BRYANT 39, MAUMELLE 27 Dezerea Duckworth and Courtney Davidson each scored 13 points as Bryant (2-2)defeated Maumelle in the OrthoArkansas Invitational. Taylor Pippens scored 10 points to lead Maumelle.

CENTRAL ARKANSAS CHRISTIAN 62, CAMDEN FAIRVIEW 39 Sophomore Sydnie Jones scored 19 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked 3 shots as the host Lady Mustangs (3-1) cruised to a victory over the Lady Cardinals (2-2) in the OrthoArkansas Invitational. Jones had 10 of her rebounds in the first half as CAC jumped out to a 32-14 halftime lead. For Camden Fairview, Andreva Davis scored 10 points and Jermeka Marks scored 9 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and made 9 steals.

JACKSONVILLE 56, CABOT 28 Jessica Jackson led the Lady Red Devils with 19 points in a stunning victory over the host Lady Panthers. Markela Bryles added 13 for Jacksonville, which led 22-2 after the first quarter and 40-12 at the half.

LITTLE ROCK CENTRAL 69, HELENA WEST HELENA 15 Taylor Lewis led the Lady Tigers (2-3) with 18 points in a victory over the visiting Lady Cougars. Kiara Williams added 12 for Central while Alaysia Ready and Chloe Washington scored 11 and 10 points, respectively. Central led 41-7 at the half.
