16-year-old dies after Springdale wreck

Springdale Fire Department members tend to a Dodge Neon on South Thompson Street on Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, near the intersection with Morlan Avenue following a three-vehicle accident.
A 16-year-old boy from Fayetteville died Monday night after a traffic accident in Springdale, according to a news release from the Springdale Police Department.
Skyler Dahne Shawn died at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo.
Shawn was a passenger in a Ford Explorer traveling north on Thompson Street. The Explorer, driven by Logan G. Shawn, a 17-year-old from Fayetteville, apparently drifted into oncoming traffic and hit a blue Dodge Neon, according to a fatal crash summary from the Arkansas State Police.
Skyler Dahne Shawn was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the crash summary. Both Skyler Shawn and Logan Shawn lived at 1150 E. Shepherd Lane in Fayetteville, according to the report.
The Ford flipped several times and landed on Shawn, who had been ejected from the vehicle, according to the news release.
Andrea Wood, 29, was driving the Dodge Neon. She and the 17-year-old were taken Northwest Medical Center. Police are investigating the wreck.
