Police: Man Stabbed Son During Argument

— A Springdale man faces felony charges after he reportedly punched a woman in the face and stabbed his son in the leg during an argument inside their home Saturday morning.

Roger Lee Watkins, 44, of 3065 Jerry Lane Apt. B in Springdale was arrested in connection with two felony counts of second-degree domestic battery, along with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, fleeing, obstructing governmental operations, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor.

Springdale police were called to Watkins’ home for a report of a stabbing about 8:25 a.m. Officers passed Watkins on Wilson Street and tried to pull him over. Watkins ignored officers’ sirens and turned west onto Adrian Avenue, according to the report.

After driving about a half mile, police said Watkins pulled over in the parking lot of Parson Hills Elementary School. He was covered in blood, according to a 911 dispatch report.

Police said the stabbing happened during an argument between Watkins and his son, Brandon Watkins. The two were arguing when Brandon Watkins began choking his dad. Roger Watkins said he couldn’t breathe so he grabbed a knife and stabbed his son in the leg. During the argument, Roger Watkins also punched Cynthia Watkins on the face, according to the report. She reportedly suffered multiple facial fractures and a laceration to her cheek.

Roger Watkins was arrested. He hadn’t been booked into the Washington County Detention Center as of Saturday afternoon.
