CARDINALS Westbrook gets new contract ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Cardinals solidified their rotation for next season by agreeing to a one-year contract with Jake Westbrook that includes a mutual option for 2014. Adam Wainwright and Jaime Garcia also are expected to be back next year, but Chris Carpenter is coming off surgery to relieve nerve compression in his shoulder and Kyle Lohse is eligible for free agency. Cardinals General Manager John Mozeliak said Tuesday there have been no talks to date with Lohse, who is 12-2 with a 2.61 ERA in 25 starts this season.
