Stocking Restrictions Removed From River

— The Arkansas Game & Fish Commission has lifted stocking restrictions on the Little Red River put in place because of high water temperatures and low water releases.

Southwestern Power Administration responded by releasing additional water from Greers Ferry Dam. Water temperatures have fallen to the point where trout stocking can continue.

The release cooled water temperatures to 58 degrees at the Dripping Springs Access and 59 degrees atRamsey Access. Temperatures reached 80 degrees at Ramsey the first week of August.

Temperatures have remained below 70 degrees for almost a week and are favorable for trout survival, according to Trout Management Biologist Paul Port.

“The stocking restrictions that were in place at Lobo Landing and downstream will be lifted and fi sh stocking will resume in those locations.” Port said.

Game & Fish will continue to monitor water temperatures and take action as needed.
