Police: Hospital Employee Accused of Rape

— A Washington Regional Medical Center employee faces a felony charge after police said he sexually assaulted a patient.

Daniel Lee Keenan, 29, of 4305 S. 1st St. in Rogers was arrested in connection with rape, according to jail records.

A woman reported to police on Tuesday that Keenan sexually assaulted her while she was a patient at Washington Regional. The incident reportedly happened on Monday. The woman told police she was heavily medicated when Keenan came into her room and took blood.

According to police recordsl, Keenan identified himself to the woman as a nurse. The woman said she later learned he was a technician.

He reportedly checked on the woman several times and brought her crackers and water.

Police said he later returned to check her pelvic area for swelling. The woman said she felt pain during the exam, but laid back and closed her eyes because she thought it was a normal procedure. Keenan washed his hands and left the room, but later returned to perform a second pelvic exam, the report said.

The woman told police Keenan began fondling the her breasts as he performed the exam. He became aroused and pressed himself against the woman’s hand, the report said. The woman said she realized it wasn’t a normal exam, so she pushed him away and called for help.

Police said Keenan denied touching the woman sexually. He refused to speak with police without the presence of an attorney, the report said.

Keenan was arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail, where he was being held Wednesday without bond.
