Bryant ousted from regional tournament

The Bryant Black Sox made a quick exit from the American Legion Mid-South Regional Tournament on Friday, suffering a 3-0 loss to Piedmont, Okla., in losers’ bracket action.

The Arkansas state champions outhit Piedmont 6-5, but a first-inning error and a RBI from Kyle Lacy gave the Oklahoma team all the offense it would need.

Zach Loomis, a New Mexico signee, struck out four, hit two batters and walked only one on his way to a complete-game victory. All six of the hits he allowed were singles.

Nathan Rutherford took the loss for Bryant. Rutherford allowed five singles and two walks. All three runs he allowed were unearned. Third baseman Tyler Brown led Bryant, finishing 2 for 4.
