Arkansas school for gifted students names finalists

— The field of candidates to be director of Arkansas’ school for gifted high school juniors and seniors has been narrowed to two.

Officials say Corey Alderdice and Marcella Dalla Rosa will visit the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts in the coming weeks to talk with students, faculty and staff. Each will make a public presentation about their vision for the school this week.

Alderdice is assistant director for admissions and public relations of The Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Bowling Green, Ky. Dalla Rosa is dean of students for Pulaski County Special School District in Little Rock.

A third candidate withdrew his application after he was picked as a finalist.

Either Alderdice or Dalla Rosa will succeed director Janet Hugo, who is retiring June 30.
