Prostitution Ring Nets Arrests

— Undercover officers made four arrests in a prostitution sting Wednesday night.

Two women, ages 21 and 24, were arrested in connection with misdemeanor prostitution. A third woman, 25, was arrested in connection with misdemeanor third-degree prostitution. A 32-year-old man was also arrested in connection with misdemeanor sexual solicitation.

It’s the policy of NWA Media not to name people arrested on misdemeanor charges.

Police Sgt. Craig Stout said detectives identified online advertisements promoting prostitution in Fayetteville.

“They were websites suspected of obviously offering sex for sale in Fayetteville,” he said. “That’s not the type of stuff we want here.”

Stout said he didn’t know the names of the websites involved in the investigation.

Undercover officers reportedly made arrangements to meet with two women at two motels. Stout said he didn’t want to release the names of the motels because they were chosen by police.

According to the arrest report, the women entered separate motel rooms just after 8 p.m. Wednesday and made arrangements to perform sexual acts on undercover officers in exchange for money. Once the negotiations were finalized, an arrest team entered the room and arrested the two women.

Stout said he didn’t know how much money was involved in the negotiation with undercover officers.

A third woman involved in the investigation was arrested for reportedly driving one of the women to the motel with the understanding she would receive half the profit gained from the negotiation.

Police arrested the 32-year-old man after he reportedly agreed to pay an undercover officer for sex at one of the motels.

All four were taken to the Washington County Detention Center.

Two of the women had been released from jail on $1,035 bond Thursday, but a third woman was still being held on bond.

The man was released on $515 bond Thursday.

Stout said the investigation was complaint-driven. Prostitution in Fayetteville is considered by some to be a hidden crime, he said.

“It’s not like you have people standing on street corners,” he said.
