PUBLIC VIEWPOINT: ‘Science’ Requires Honest Discussion

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

— Poor Art Hobson.

The same weekend of his column, “Increased cynicism toward science hurts” (April 1), there were two columns on how “science” actually works - for those who think.

Saturday’s paper contained “Coloring outside the lines,” which exposed the “green job” hoax.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 116,293 waste collection jobs and 160,896 schoolbus and employee transportation jobs are green. And 106,865 used merchandise store jobs are likewise. Social advocacy groups claim 20,704 green jobs while wind, solar, biomass and geothermal energy (scientifi c) jobs total 4,700.

Sunday’s Perspective section’s “Ethics and ethicists” column states that bioethicists (scientists) favor “afterbirth” abortions. How Nazi-like. They pulled their report from their website, no doubt to be“studied” in private.

Sound familiar?

The global warming “scientists” manipulate words and statistics, then shout, “Proven science!” Thankfully there are climate scientists like Dr.

David Legates and Dr.

Willie Soon who oppose cheerleading and study scientifi c theory on the subject of weather.

Hobson quotes Nina Federoft who says how “diff cult it has become merely to get a realistic conversation started on … climate changeand genetically modifi ed organisms.”

The cynicism goes to the Hobsons and Federoft s who disallow honest scientifi c discussion and dissent, their theology being bankrupt. I’ve applied my “rational brain” to your “evidence” Mr.

Hobson, and I fi nd it has everything to do with money, power and politics and nothing to do with science. Or maybe your screed was an April fool.
