Thanks To Department For Saving Post

Many thanks to Bentonville Parks and Recreation for opening the floodgates on Lake Bella Vista during the recent threat of heavy rain. The proactive measure resulted in the lake level decreasing and saved the VFW Post 9063 and our treasured Wall of Honor from being damaged by flooding like last year. Thank you.

THE WRITER IS COMMANDER OF VFW POST 9063 IN BELLA VISTA.ANOTHER RUSH TO JUDGMENT?

George Zimmerman is in hiding after Spike Lee revealed his home addresson Twitter and the New Black Panthers, who used billy clubs to intimidate voters, put a $10,000 bounty on his head. Bottom feeders Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and NAACP’s Ben Jealous have addressed rallies in Orlando calling for Zimmerman’s arrest with no factual knowledge of events that led to the shooting of Trayvon Martin.

This sounds like Tawana Brawley, the Duke lacrosse team and Henry Louis Gates all over again with everyone who makes a career of being of color jumping to conclusions with no knowledge other than the skin color of a perceived victim and desire to be in the spotlight of a media lynching. Even Obama jumped in saying if he had a son, “He would look like Trayvon.” Is Obama sayingall young black men look alike?

Why can’t folks be just Americans without adopting hyphenated titles and perpetuating violent schisms and Us-vs.-Them mentality? Organizations like the Arkansas Black Caucus denying membership to white legislators who represent predominantly black districts reinforces this mentality. Nationally the Congressional Black Caucus, Hispanic Caucus and Asian Pacific American Caucus all called for a federal investigation, with the Black Caucus saying Sanford police showed “blatant disregard for justice.”

Remind you of Obama’s condemnation of the Cambridge (Mass.) police before the facts were known? I doubt George Zimmerman will want to attend another“beer summit” when the whole truth of this incident is known.

WORDS PICKED UPPerhaps the little 5-yearold who said the “bad word” at school heard that word just like Wren did in “Baby Blues” in last Sunday’s (March 25) comics.

Seems to me a little talk would have done the job.

Children hear bad words on a regular basis - at home, on television, even from other children at school.

They probably don’t even know what the word means.
