MEMOIR EXPLORES JOURNEY INWARD TO GOD

University of Arkansas professor Lynne Spellman smiles as she reads from her book, “Unbolting the Dark, a Memoir,” which was published in July.
When Lynne Spellman was 38, the age her mother had been when she died, she found herself “overtaken by an unwelcome, disruptive restlessness.” That restlessness led the University of Arkansas philosophy professor deep into her psyche as she struggled to come to terms with losing her mother at age 12 and with an unexpected opening into the realm of faith.
